Terms of sale.

Gavel is a curated auction and e-commerce platform operated in Los Angeles, California. References to “Gavel”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of 247ja.com. References to “you” mean the user or buyer.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding contract to bid or purchase. By placing a bid or completing checkout you confirm that you meet these requirements.

We describe every lot as accurately as we can, including condition, measurements, inclusions and known flaws. Photographs form part of the description. Colors may vary by screen.

Unless expressly stated, lots are pre-owned and sold in the condition described. Watches and coins are not guaranteed to be waterproof or serviced unless stated. Where a lot is made to order, production times are estimates, not guarantees.

A bid is a binding offer to purchase the lot at the amount bid, subject to any buyer's premium and shipping. Bids cannot be retracted once placed. If you are the winning bidder, you are obligated to pay.

We may reject, cancel or limit bids, close a sale early, or cancel a sale if we suspect fraud, shill bidding, error or an authenticity concern. Our decision is final.

Auction wins are subject to a 20% buyer's premium, which is added to the invoice. Buy Now purchases are not subject to a buyer's premium.

The Buy Now price is the fixed purchase price shown on the lot. When you complete checkout, the lot is reserved for you and removed from sale. Payment instructions are sent by email.

If payment is not received within the period stated in those instructions, we may cancel the reservation and relist the lot. We may also cancel an order if the lot is no longer available or if we cannot verify the payment or buyer.

We accept card, bank wire and PayPal. Card and PayPal payments must use a billing address that matches the shipping address. Bank-wire orders may ship to an alternate address after verification.

Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax may be added based on the shipping destination. International buyers are responsible for customs, duties and local taxes.

Shipping is a flat $50 for orders under $3,000 and complimentary at $3,000 and above. Every parcel is insured and requires an adult signature. Risk passes to you on delivery, or to the carrier once delivered to the address you provided.

We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs or events outside our control. If a parcel is lost or damaged in transit, we will assist with the insurance claim.

Returns are accepted within fourteen days of delivery in accordance with our Returns policy. Custom and made-to-order pieces are eligible for store credit only. Engraved pieces are final sale unless damaged or not as described.

We review every lot for authenticity before listing. If a lot is determined to be inauthentic by a recognized expert, we will refund the purchase price and return shipping, provided the lot is returned in the condition received. This remedy is exclusive.

Consignment terms, commission and settlement are agreed separately in writing with each consignor. By submitting a consignment inquiry you confirm that you have the right to sell the object and that it is free of liens.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the lot. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
